1 / 8The Pointer
Brill, Buckinghamshire
Yes. Dogs can stay in selected rooms.
A country pub with eight rooms in the Buckinghamshire village of Brill, with dog treats always on hand and a scoop of dog ice cream.
Dogs at The Pointer can enjoy a scoop of Judes Dog Ice Cream, which tells you much of what you need to know. This is a country pub with rooms in Brill, a Buckinghamshire village, a dog friendly inn where dogs, children and muddy boots are all welcome, and there are always plenty of dog treats on hand.
Dogs stay in designated rooms, so if you are in a group, do not let a dog visit someone staying in a room that isn't one of them. Bring bedding for your dog to sleep in, keep your dog off the furniture and the bed, and you are welcome to leave your dog alone in your room provided you stay on the premises, and you will be asked to return if the dog becomes distressed and disturbs other guests. Of the eight en-suite bedrooms, some have roll-top baths and others waterfall showers and twin basins, with oak beams, kilim fabrics, wicker and sheepskin running through them.
In the bar area well behaved dogs are welcome, on a lead at all times. That bar is the room with the oak beams, rustic decor and fireside nooks, open for morning coffee, a lazy lunch or a family Sunday roast. Past the kitchen, a converted 18th century barn with vaulted ceilings holds the restaurant, which looks onto the enclosed and leafy beer garden.
A butcher's shop next door brings the pub premium cuts of meat. Brill has open spaces for walking a dog, and the walk up to Brill Windmill opens out views of the countryside; ask the team for more routes. Bernwood Forest and Oakley Wood, on Wildpack's map, is 4.2 miles away.
