The Queen's Arms

Sherborne, Somerset

Yes. Dogs can stay in selected rooms.

A former ciderhouse in Corton Denham, near Sherborne, where dogs stay in the Coach House or the Cottage, and well behaved ones are welcome in the pub.

Straddling the border of Dorset and Somerset, in the village of Corton Denham, The Queen's Arms is a former ciderhouse, now a family owned inn with 10 rooms and big views over rolling countryside. Mile upon mile of countryside lies on the doorstep of this dog friendly inn, 4 miles from the historic town of Sherborne.

Dogs stay in the three Coach House rooms or in the 2-bedroom Cottage, a former skittle alley with a large living and dining area. Beds, treats and water bowls are supplied, along with some poo bags and a dog waste bin, and you're welcome to bring your dog's own bed. If your dog is happy to be left unattended, that's fine, as long as you bring a crate for them while you're out. A lead is essential, as the inn is surrounded by livestock.

The pub welcomes well behaved dogs, so yours can join you at meals in a restaurant of aged flagstone floors, roaring fires and three indoor dining areas. Hearty pub classics and more elegant dishes come from locally sourced ingredients, from freshly homemade bread and locally reared meat to the signature indulgent puddings, and the Ploughman's lunch shows off local cheddar and village-grown vegetables.

Room 6, one of the dog friendly rooms, is on the ground floor with a sleigh bed and countryside views, and Room 8 looks towards Parrok Hill. For walks with your dog, ask the inn for one of its hand-drawn maps of local walking routes.
