1 / 8The Red Lion
Radlett, Hertfordshire
Yes. Dogs can stay overnight, up to 2 dogs per room.
A refurbished village inn in the heart of Radlett, where a dog's room comes with a bowl, a hamper of treats and a bed or a blanket.
The Red Lion has stood in the heart of Radlett village since the 1900s, a traditional pub with rooms lately refurbished, with thirteen bedrooms above it. It has been a Hertfordshire favourite for British food and tipples with friends ever since. The dog friendly inn is handily placed: the station is a two minute walk, Watford and St Albans are close, and the Roman ruins at Verulamium are a short run out.
Treats come in a hamper, alongside a bowl and a blanket or bed, and theirs from home is welcome if they prefer it. Two dogs to a bedroom is the maximum, a lead is needed in all shared areas, and the inn asks that a dog is never left unsupervised.
The bar is brimming with real ales, craft beers, a wide selection of spirits and an extensive wine list, and the kitchen builds a British menu on traditional classics, with a proper roast and all the trimmings on Sundays. Whether a dog can be with you at the table the inn doesn't say, so square it when you book.
The thirteen bedrooms are spacious and newly refurbished, with a Nespresso machine and air conditioning. Aldenham Country Park Reservoir Walk, 2.5 miles away, is the nearest of our walks for the dog, with Verulamium Park 4.7 miles on. Harry Potter World is over in Watford, a local favourite.
