1 / 8The Swan Hotel
Arundel, West Sussex
Yes. Dogs can stay in selected rooms, up to 2 dogs per room.
A traditional country pub with 14 rooms in the middle of Arundel, opposite the town quay, where the bar and the garden are open to dogs.
The Swan Hotel has stood on Arundel High Street since 1759, a traditional country pub with 14 ensuite rooms, opposite the historic Arundel Town Quay and just outside the South Downs National Park. This dog friendly inn keeps selected rooms for well behaved dogs, and the bar and the garden are theirs as well.
Two small dogs to a room is the stated limit, and the hotel checks availability before confirming. The hotel lists a paw pamper package as well as a sausage for the dog at breakfast. Dogs are on a lead the whole time they are in the hotel and the garden; a room is no place to leave one alone when you go out. Assistance and guide dogs are permitted as well.
Your dog can eat beside you at a table in the bar, or outside in the garden, while the main dining areas are kept free of them. The kitchen does refined pub classics from local produce, fish and chips, Sunday roasts with the trimmings and an afternoon tea, and the bar keeps Fuller's cask ales and craft beers alongside more than 50 wines.
Rooms are individually styled on a riverside theme, with deep roll top baths in some of the Indulgence rooms, and breakfast is included, continental buffet or cooked. The Arun Valley Path, one of ours, is 0.2 miles from the door, which is about as close as a dog walk gets, and Littlehampton Beach, the nearest we list as dog friendly, is 3.5 miles away.
Facts checked October 2026 from the hotel's own website. Details can change, so please confirm anything important, especially the dog rules, with the hotel before you book.
