Bailiffscourt Hotel & Spa

Arundel, West Sussex

Yes. Dogs can stay overnight, up to 2 dogs per room.

A medieval style country house hotel at Climping, with 30 acres of parkland and paths that take you and the dog down to Climping Beach.

Bailiffscourt is a medieval style house with thatched houses and cottages around it, thirty nine bedrooms in all, set in 30 acres of private parkland that runs down to the coast at Climping. This is a dog friendly hotel in its own words, with paths from the grounds to the beach, so the walk starts as you step outside.

Two dogs are allowed to a room, and they stay in it with you. Treats and cuddles are the welcome. In all the public areas, the Courtyard and the Rose garden included, dogs are on their leads; out in the 30 acres you can let them off the lead, as long as they are under control, with an eye on the wildlife. Leaving a dog alone in a room the hotel does not mention, so raise it at the booking.

The Spa and the Restaurant are not for dogs, though they are welcome everywhere else, and you can eat with one in the Courtyard, the Rose garden or one of the lounges. Menus lean on locally sourced ingredients, and afternoon tea is popular enough to book ahead.

Rooms take their names from the fields around the hotel, going back to 1610, and some have four poster beds, roll top baths and wood burning stoves. The spa is built in the style of a Sussex barn, with heated infinity pools indoors and out, a spa bath, steam room and sauna, hot tubs inside and out, a gym and a tennis court. Dogs get the parkland and the sea: Climping Beach, 0.8 miles away, is the closest dog friendly beach Wildpack maps, and the Arun Valley Path lies 4 miles off.

Facts checked October 2026 from the hotel's own website. Details can change, so please confirm anything important, especially the dog rules, with the hotel before you book.
