Dorking, Surrey
Yes. Dogs can stay in selected rooms, up to 2 dogs per room.
A thirteenth century inn in the middle of Dorking, with a dog menu, a courtyard dog wash and a stick library to keep them busy.
The White Horse is a thirteenth century inn on the High Street in Dorking, with a large bar, a restaurant and 56 en-suite bedrooms, a short walk from the art deco Dorking Halls. It works as a dog friendly inn from the ground up: a handful of bedrooms take dogs, the bar has spaces set aside for them, and there is a dog wash in the courtyard for afterwards.
The dog rooms offer a bed on request that fits two medium sized dogs, a bowl for food, a bowl for water and a welcome treat each, plus a gift pack of shampoo and treats. Two dogs to a room is the limit. Water bowls and free treats are there for the asking, and the house rule is paws on floors: dogs stay off the furniture. A dog should not be left unaccompanied in the room.
There is a dog menu, created with Sir Woofchester, running from treat pots to dinner bowls and alcohol free dog drinks, so your dog can order too. Dedicated dog friendly dining areas mean you sit together; for you the kitchen cooks gastropub food with cocktails and a long wine list, and there is a children's menu as well as half portions from the main one.
Rooms run from snugs to the Really Fancy ones, some with a roll top bath at the foot of the bed, and there are ground floor bedrooms with level access. Dorking is set up for dog walks of all lengths, and the team can recommend local favourites. Wildpack lists Ranmore Common and Denbies Vineyard Walk 1.7 miles away and Box Hill Circular 2.7 miles off.
