1 / 8Thorpeness Golf Club & Hotel
Thorpeness, Suffolk
Yes. Dogs can stay in selected rooms.
A golf club hotel in Thorpeness village on the Suffolk coast, where dogs are welcome out on the course and can dine with you in Braid's Bar.
Thorpeness Golf Club & Hotel sits in the village of Thorpeness on the Suffolk coast, surrounded by its own 18-hole championship golf course, and well behaved dogs are welcome both in the hotel and out on the course. So the long walk comes built into this dog friendly hotel, and the hotel puts it plainly: bring your dog to the course for a long walk and a snack.
Among the 36 en-suite bedrooms is a selection of dedicated dog friendly rooms, so say a dog is coming when you reserve and the hotel will allocate one. Beyond your room, dogs are welcome in all the hotel's public areas, from the library and the lounge to Braid's Bar and the outdoor patio. The hotel doesn't state a ceiling on dogs per room, or if yours may stay in it while you're out, so query both before you book.
Braid's Bar is where you eat together: dogs are welcome to dine alongside you there, and it serves food all day, from breakfast through lunch to dinner. Dogs aren't to come along to Ogilvie's restaurant, which looks out over the third tee and serves grill house classics such as prime cuts of beef.
The hotel's own recommended dog walk of about 4 miles begins beside Thorpeness Meare, heads out to the coast and finishes back at the hotel, where dogs are welcome on the patio with views across the Meare. Down at the shore, Thorpeness Beach, 0.7 miles away, is the nearest Wildpack lists as dog friendly.
Facts checked October 2026 from the hotel's own website. Details can change, so please confirm anything important, especially the dog rules, with the hotel before you book.
