3 Gabberwell Cottages

Kingston, Devon

A three bedroom cottage at Kingston with an enclosed lawn, two dogs welcome, a pub within walking distance and four South Hams beaches inside three miles.

Kingston is a South Hams village a mile back from the Erme estuary, and its main quality is that almost nobody has heard of it. 3 Gabberwell Cottages is a three bedroom cottage there with a wood burner, a wet room on the ground floor and a pub you can reach on foot. Six people and two dogs.

Whilst you walk down towards the Erme, your dog has an enclosed lawn and patio to come back to and four beaches inside three miles, none of them the ones the coaches stop at. Mothecombe and Wonwell are both under two miles and sit either side of the estuary mouth, so which one you use depends on the tide. Bigbury on Sea is a little over two, with Burgh Island offshore and a causeway that floods twice a day. Challaborough is two and a half.

Recent enough to the collection that no guest ratings have landed on it yet, so you would be going on specification rather than consensus. What it says reads well for two dogs: an enclosed lawn, a wet room downstairs, a wood burner to steam in front of, and a pub near enough to walk to with them rather than drive to and leave them behind.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is 3 Gabberwell Cottages dog friendly?

Yes, 3 Gabberwell Cottages welcomes up to two dogs. The cottage has an enclosed lawn and patio where they can roam safely, a wet room on the ground floor for rinsing off after beach trips, and a wood burner to dry out in front of afterwards — all the practical bases covered for a dog-friendly stay.

  • Are dogs allowed at 3 Gabberwell Cottages year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so there's nothing to suggest your visit needs to be timed around that. If year-round availability matters to you, it's worth confirming directly with the owner before you book.

  • What should I know before visiting 3 Gabberwell Cottages with my dog?

The cottage takes a maximum of two dogs, so it's not suited to larger groups of pets. It's worth knowing that the nearest beaches — Mothecombe and Wonwell — are tidal, so which one you can access on a given day depends on the tide; Bigbury on Sea and Challaborough are slightly further at around two to two and a half miles. The cottage is new to the directory and hasn't yet gathered guest reviews, so you'd be going on the listing rather than accumulated feedback from other dog owners.
