Two acres of enclosed lawn is the headline at Arnewood Corner. This detached, dog friendly family house a mile outside Sway sleeps twelve across six bedrooms, looks out over fields at the edge of the New Forest, and takes three dogs, who get room to run while the rest of the party gets a heated pool, a hot tub and a games cabin.

It is built for a gathering. The living room has an open fire, a piano and French doors to the garden, and the dining room has a jukebox. Two bedrooms are on the ground floor, one with its own doors onto the lawn, and four more are upstairs, three of them with their own bathrooms. A stair gate keeps the dogs downstairs when that suits, and there are doggy extras in the welcome pack.

A family of eleven who came with three dogs said the garden was the thing: room for the dogs to run and for everybody else to play ball games. The outdoor pool is heated all year and sits in the grounds with the private hot tub and a play area, and the games cabin has a pinball machine for the teenagers. By evening the fire is lit, the jukebox is on and three dogs, walked out, have claimed the floor in front of the hearth.

The New Forest begins almost at once, heath and inclosures threaded with tracks, and ponies and cattle roam free across it and along the roadsides, so dogs are kept close around them. The lanes from the house have no pavements. Lymington's harbour is a short drive, and the nearest beach is at Milford on Sea, where the crabbing keeps children busy while the dogs watch the water.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Arnewood Corner dog friendly?

Yes, Arnewood Corner welcomes up to three dogs. The property has two acres of enclosed lawn, so your dogs have real room to run while you make use of the heated pool, hot tub and games cabin. There's even a stair gate to keep dogs downstairs when needed, and doggy extras are included in the welcome pack.

  • Are dogs allowed at Arnewood Corner year round?

The listing doesn't specify seasonal restrictions on dogs, and the outdoor pool is noted as heated all year round, which suggests the property takes guests across the seasons. It's always worth confirming directly with the owner when you book.

  • What should I know before visiting Arnewood Corner with my dog?

The New Forest starts almost immediately beyond the house, which is wonderful for walks, but the ponies and cattle roam free across the heath and along the roadsides, so you'll need to keep your dogs close around them. The lanes near the property have no pavements, so take care on your way in and out. For a beach trip, Milford on Sea is a short drive away.
