Bees Place

Whitby, North Yorkshire

A detached four bedroom house for six a mile from Whitby, with a 120ft enclosed garden, a bike and surf board store, and three dogs welcome free of charge.

Book now

The garden at Bee's Place runs to 120ft, enclosed the whole way, and that is a lot of ground for three dogs to cover. They come free of charge, too. Six people fit in this detached dog friendly house a mile from the centre of Whitby, with the moors behind and the sea in front.

The ground floor is one open living and dining space, with the dining table looking out into the garden, which is busy with wild birds, and a kitchen alongside with a separate toilet off the hall. The garden has a patio and furniture, a store for bikes and another for surf boards, and it is the kind of space where the dogs go out after breakfast and are still out there, investigating, when lunch is ready. There are doggy extras on arrival and a stair gate to keep them downstairs if needed.

Upstairs there are four bedrooms, a king, a double and two singles, sharing the family bathroom. The layout works for two couples, or a family with older children, and three dogs who are as keen on the beach as everyone else. The evening at Bee's Place goes like this: fish and chips from the town, board games at the table, three dogs asleep on the sofa end and the garden going dark outside.

Whitby Sands is the nearest beach, with Sandsend along the coast beyond it, and the cliff path to Robin Hood's Bay starts close by. The abbey stands over the old town across the harbour, and inland, Falling Foss and the woods around May Beck make a good walk with dogs in the North York Moors.
