Bell Crags takes its name from an east facing crag on nearby Watendlath Fell, and it sits in the heart of Borrowdale with glorious views across the valley. Beautifully updated, this dog friendly cottage takes two dogs, and fell walkers can head out from the door in every direction.

The light, welcoming lounge is built around an open fire set in a slate fireplace, with coal supplied, comfortable seating and a TV with DVD. After a big Borrowdale day, the dogs will be stretched before the fire long before anyone has chosen a film. The charming dining room is the place for family meals, made in the fully equipped kitchen.

On the first floor are two cosy bedrooms, a restful king size room and a twin, along with the bathroom, and a little secret room waits at the top of the stairs. In the pretty enclosed garden, lawn meets a furnished patio, ideal for an evening glass of wine over the valley views as the dogs lie on the lawn. Down at the bottom, a gate opens to Hause Gill as it flows past the cottage.

Scafell Pike, Great Gable, Dale Head, Catbells and Helvellyn are all within 10 miles, so a dog could tackle a different fell every day of the week. Buttermere, Crummock Water and Derwentwater are close at hand, with Thirlmere and Bassenthwaite Lake a little further, and Honister Slate Mine is only 1.5 miles away. The Glaramara Hotel, a few hundred metres off, offers a fantastic range of food and drink, and Keswick has the Derwent Pencil Museum.
