Aberdaron, Gwynedd

A three bedroom cottage for five overlooking Aberdaron Bay at the tip of the Llyn Peninsula, with a fully enclosed lawned garden, sea views and three dogs welcome free.

Book now

Bodarfor looks straight out over Aberdaron Bay, at the far western tip of the Llyn Peninsula, and the beach is a couple of minutes' walk from the door. Five people fit, this dog friendly cottage takes up to three dogs, and the owners do not charge for them.

Inside it is decorated in white and pale blue with seascapes on the walls. The kitchen and dining room is open plan, and a utility room with a washer and a dryer deals with the sandy dog towels, next to a ground floor shower room. The living room has shelves of books, DVDs and games for the evenings. Upstairs are two doubles, a single and the bathroom. The owners decorate for Christmas, Easter and Halloween, so a stay at any of those times comes with trimmings.

French doors lead from the living room into the garden, which is fully enclosed and lawned, with decking and a table. It faces the sea, and it is where the day ends: three dogs let out onto the grass after a run on the sand, supper on the deck, and the sun going down over the bay.

Aberdaron is a small fishing village with a church, St Hywyn's, that was the last stop for medieval pilgrims crossing to Bardsey Island. Porth Oer, the beach known as Whistling Sands, is a short drive north, and the heath at Uwchmynydd above the village looks straight across the sound to Bardsey, with choughs over the cliffs and the coast path running round the headland for the dogs.
