1 / 16Bramble Cottage Mountain Retreat
Llanddeusant, Carmarthenshire
A converted cow barn for four on a working farm at Llanddeusant in the Brecon Beacons, with an enclosed garden crossed by a stream, a two acre dog field and two dogs welcome.
Llanddeusant sits high on the Black Mountain, at the western end of the Brecon Beacons, and Bramble Cottage is a converted cow barn on a small working farm there, across the yard from the owners' home. It is a dog friendly stay for four, a double and a twin, with two dogs welcome and a fenced two acre field kept for them to run in.
Behind the cottage the garden is enclosed and holds a patio, seating and a fire pit, and French doors open onto it from the living room. An unfenced stream runs through that garden, and there are sloping banks and four steps in it, so a dog out there needs watching. The owners ask for dogs to be on a lead everywhere on the farm except the exercise field, which is where they are let off. Guests with two dogs called that field a huge bonus.
Inside, limestone floors and bare stone walls in their natural pink keep the barn light, and the kitchen and shower room have underfloor heating that a dog lying on the tiles will appreciate. A stair gate is fitted. The owners will cook meals by arrangement, and after dark the sky here is part of Wales's first International Dark Sky Reserve, which makes the fire pit worth lighting with a dog at your feet.
Footpaths and bridleways climb straight from the farm onto the Black Mountain, and Llyn y Fan Fach, the lake of the Lady of the Lake legend, lies above the village. The farm has its own 20 acres of ancient woodland and river walks, with sheep and cattle in the pastures, so dogs stay on the lead there.

Book with cottages.comFrequently Asked Questions
Is Bramble Cottage Mountain Retreat dog friendly?
Yes, Bramble Cottage warmly welcomes dogs — up to two are allowed to stay. The cottage comes with a dedicated two-acre fenced field where dogs can run off-lead, and the garden is enclosed with a patio and fire pit, making it a genuinely good setup for dogs and their people alike.
Are dogs allowed at Bramble Cottage Mountain Retreat year round?
The listing doesn't specify seasonal restrictions, so it's worth contacting the owners directly to confirm availability for your dates. Given that the cottage is on a working farm with year-round footpaths and bridleways onto the Black Mountain on the doorstep, it seems well set up for visits in any season.
What should I know before visiting Bramble Cottage Mountain Retreat with my dog?
There are a few things to keep in mind. Dogs must be kept on a lead everywhere on the farm except the dedicated exercise field, as there are sheep and cattle in the pastures and ancient woodland walks on the 20-acre grounds. The enclosed garden is lovely but has an unfenced stream running through it with sloping banks and steps, so dogs will need supervision out there.
