Book now

Broadoak Barn is a detached barn near Ellesmere, converted and furnished with real care, and it sits in a quiet spot beside the owners' home with its own private garden at the back. Four people can stay, adults and children over 14 only, and two dogs are welcome at this dog friendly barn.

The garden faces south. It is enclosed, with a patio, a gas barbecue and furniture, and it holds the sun from morning into the evening, which a dog will discover before anybody has unpacked. The owners point guests towards local fields for walking the dogs, so the first outing does not need the car at all.

The sitting room has a wood burner, logs included, and alongside it are a kitchen with a dining table, a conservatory looking out over the garden and a separate toilet. On the floor above, a double and a twin share a shower room. The barn is decorated for Christmas through the festive season, which makes a winter break here something of an occasion: the burner going, the decorations up, the dogs stretched out in the warmth of the conservatory. There is a welcome pack with doggy extras.

Ellesmere is the town of the Shropshire meres, glacial lakes with footpaths around them, and the lanes around it are quiet. Llangollen, with its horse drawn canal boats and steam railway, Chirk Castle and Erddig are within easy reach across the Welsh border, and Shrewsbury and Chester make good days out, dogs in tow.
