Carnsew - St Erth

St Erth, Cornwall

A one bedroom cottage at St Erth for under four hundred pounds, with a small private enclosed garden, one dog welcome and Porthkidney two miles off.

St Erth is where the branch line to St Ives leaves the main railway, which means you can leave the car for the week and take a five minute train into one of the most congested towns in Cornwall without joining the queue for it. Carnsew is a one bedroom cottage in the village sleeping two, with one dog welcome.

Its garden is small, private and enclosed, with access to a communal one alongside. Porthkidney Beach sits two and three tenths of a mile off and it scores a nine for us, a flat expanse of sand at the estuary mouth that a dog can cross at a dead run. The coast path from St Ives round to Zennor is three and nine tenths and takes another nine. Prussia Cove and Marazion sit four miles the other way.

Three hundred and ninety three pounds with thirty two guest ratings behind it makes this one of the better value entries in Cornwall. One dog. The train is what sets it apart: with a dog on a lead and a day in St Ives ahead of you, arriving by rail rather than circling a car park for forty minutes changes the character of the whole day.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Carnsew - St Erth dog friendly?

Yes, Carnsew welcomes one dog. The cottage has a small private enclosed garden, so your dog has a safe outdoor space, and there's access to a communal garden alongside it.

  • Are dogs allowed at Carnsew - St Erth year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, but we'd recommend confirming directly with the host before booking, particularly if you're planning a visit during busy periods.

  • What should I know before visiting Carnsew - St Erth with my dog?

The cottage takes one dog, so it's best suited to single-dog households. The real draw for dog owners is the location: Porthkidney Beach is just over two miles away and is described as a flat expanse of sand where a dog can really stretch its legs, and the St Erth railway station means you can hop on a five-minute train to St Ives with your dog on a lead rather than battling traffic and car parks.
