Castlegate House is a fantastic, spacious detached house in the village of Hayton, a couple of miles from the Solway Coast, and a dog friendly base for eight with three dogs welcome. The Solway Coast AONB and the northern Lake District are both within reach, and the large enclosed garden gives all three dogs room to explore.
The hallway is where coats and boots are shed when the dogs come back from their walk, and the spacious, welcoming lounge has plenty of comfortable seating and a Smart TV. The light, stylish kitchen and diner has a useful island, and the dining area is by French doors with fantastic views over the garden towards the Solway Firth. A wood burner, with two baskets of logs supplied, adds its warmth.
Lawn and a couple of patio areas make up the large enclosed garden, along with outdoor furniture, a bar area with a charcoal BBQ and a Ninja woodfire grill, and a large private hot tub to sink into as the evening comes on, with three dogs flopped out nearby. Upstairs, four light and relaxing bedrooms include two kings, one of them en suite, as well as a double, and a twin that converts to a super king, and a study area is tucked away between two of them. The garage has a games table and room for bikes and golf clubs.
Allonby, 3 miles away, is known for its long beach and coastal walks, a fine stretch for the dogs, and Maryport, 6.5 miles off, has Georgian and Victorian architecture, a bustling harbour and the Senhouse Roman Museum. Inland, Cockermouth, the birthplace of William Wordsworth, marks an entry point into the Lake District, with Bassenthwaite Lake within easy reach.
