Silloth Beach

Cumbria

Dog Friendly Rating:7/10A wide Solway Coast beach backed by a large seafront green in the Victorian planned town of Silloth, with year-round dog access, views across to Scotland and a traditional seaside atmosphere.

Silloth Beach is a wide, sandy and shingle beach on the Solway Firth at the small Victorian planned town of Silloth, which retains much of its original grid layout and seafront character. The beach is backed by the Silloth Green, a large grassy area that runs the length of the seafront, and looks directly across to the Scottish hills. Silloth has a traditional seaside character with a lifeboat station, a dock area, and a promenade. The town is the largest settlement on the Solway Coast and has a full range of shops, cafes and pubs, several of which are dog friendly. The Cumbria Coastal Way connects the beach to Allonby to the south and Anthorn to the north.

Dogs are welcome at Silloth Beach with no reported seasonal restrictions. The wide open beach and the Silloth Green behind it provide excellent space for dog walking year-round. The seafront has a relaxed, traditional character, and the views across the Solway toward Scotland are a consistent highlight. Parking is available along the seafront.
