Lovingly restored and graded five star, this dog friendly barn opens its hot tub and enclosed garden to eight guests and two dogs, and the beach is only a short stroll away.
A covered porchway leads into a spacious hallway. In the bright lounge the wood burner is ready to light, and beside it the utility room has lots of storage for coats, walking boots and sandy flip flops. At the heart of the barn, kitchen, informal lounge and dining room share one beautiful space, with an island and breakfast bar, and a large dining table in front of bi-folding doors onto the patio. The dogs will settle there while breakfast is made. At the foot of the stairs, there is pool, a Nintendo Switch and bean bags in the games room, and the first floor holds four themed bedrooms, Highland Cow, Hare, Sheep and Bird, with a family bathroom and its freestanding bath.
Outside, the private enclosed garden has seating for a book or a morning coffee, a separate wildlife garden with a bug hotel, and a patio with the private hot tub beneath the pergola. An outside hot hose is provided for bikes and dogs, so two sandy dogs come home from the dunes to a warm rinse.
Some of the finest sand dunes in the area are at Mawbray Banks, an easy walk from the house, and the pub is within walking distance. Maryport has its harbour, aquarium and Roman fort, and the Lake District National Park, 12 miles off, calls for bigger days with the dogs.
