Cawdor Cottage is a peaceful character cottage in the village of Fort Augustus, a short walk from the shops, restaurants and the Caledonian Canal, and at the front of it lies a vast garden enclosed by fencing and surrounded by trees and greenery. Sleeping four, this dog friendly cottage welcomes one dog, and that garden is the dog's first stop every morning.
Coats and boots go in the utility area as you come in, beside a shower room, and the cosy open lounge and diner has a TV and a multi fuel stove for evenings in with the dog curled up beside it. The modern kitchen has an electric oven, an induction hob and a dishwasher, and off the hallway a further sitting room with a TV and DVD player gives everyone a second place to unwind. Upstairs are a double, a twin and a bathroom with a bath.
Out in the garden the trees and greenery make for a relaxing, peaceful atmosphere, the dog nosing about while the kettle boils. Storage for two bicycles is available on request, handy if you have brought bikes for the Great Glen Cycle Route.
Loch Ness is 0.5 miles away, with pleasure trips on the water, and there is cycle hire, golf, sailing, fishing, mountain biking and forest trails nearby for days out with the dog. Keen walkers have at least fifty Munros within an hour's drive, and with Fort William and Inverness either side, the village makes a central base for exploring all the Highlands have to offer.
