Llangollen, Denbighshire
A cabin in its own private field ringed by oak trees above Llangollen, with a huge window framing the Dee Valley and dogs welcome, on the lead outside with sheep about.
Cyra is one for the daydreamers. A huge window frames the view of the Dee Valley, the interior is cosy, and the cabin has a private field of its own, ringed by oak trees and perched just above Llangollen. For two people and their dog it is a quiet, dog friendly place to watch the valley and let the days drift.
The field is enclosed, but the cabin is not directly fenced and there are often sheep in the field with it, so dogs need to be kept on a lead while outside. It is a working farm, and you may occasionally see the farmer with his sheep. From the parking it is a 100m walk up a short hill, with gates to shut behind you.
Light the fire in winter, or relax on the outdoor chairs in summer and take in the expansive views through the trees. When you want a treat, the Shacks off grid wild sauna is a short drive away, with crackling timber, rising steam and views across the landscape, and the dog can stretch out by the stove when you get back.
A footpath runs down from the cabin into Llangollen, where the canal towpath makes a gentle walk with the dog out to Horseshoe Falls and Pontcysyllte Aqueduct can be walked or crossed by boat. Castell Dinas Brân looks down from its hilltop with views over the valley, and the Britannia Inn up on the Horseshoe Pass is a cosy stop.

Book with ShacksFrequently Asked Questions
Is Cyra dog friendly?
Yes, Cyra welcomes dogs. It's a cabin for two set in its own enclosed field on a farm in the Denbighshire hills, and the whole setup — quiet, rural, with good walking nearby — suits dogs well.
Are dogs allowed at Cyra year round?
The listing doesn't specify seasonal restrictions, so it's worth getting in touch with Cyra directly to confirm availability for your dates. As a rural cabin in the hills, it's the kind of place that has appeal across the seasons.
What should I know before visiting Cyra with my dog?
The cabin itself isn't fenced, and sheep graze in the surrounding area, so dogs must be kept on the lead from the first gate onwards — that's about 100 metres from the car. It's a straightforward rule to follow, and once you're inside with the stove on and the Dee Valley filling that big window, neither of you will be in a hurry to go anywhere anyway.
