Depot Rd

Cwmavon, Neath Port Talbot

A former Methodist church in the Afan Valley sleeping twelve, with an enclosed inner courtyard and a separate enclosed rear garden, four dogs welcome.

Book now

It was a Methodist church, and it has been very imaginatively refurbished. Depot Rd keeps a high ceiling that makes its open plan living space light and airy, and its large hallway has a football table and a picture window onto the courtyard. Twelve sleep here and four dogs come with them, which makes it a dog friendly base on the edge of Cwmavon in the Afan Valley.

There are two enclosed outdoor spaces: a delightful inner courtyard, and a rear garden with furniture, a BBQ and a fire pit. With four dogs in the party, two enclosed spaces give everyone room to spread out. Inside, the three bedrooms each have an en suite shower room and sliding doors to the outside, and between them they sleep twelve.

The hall tells you what kind of week this is: a football table, boots against a wall, and four dogs working out that the courtyard window is the best vantage point in the building. Later the open plan room has table tennis on the go, a hand made table with bench seating and a wood burner, and come nightfall the dogs have claimed the spot by the fire and nobody will move them.

The Afan Valley is surrounded by mountains and forest, with world class mountain biking at Afan Forest Park and local trails that four dogs will enjoy as much as the cyclists. The seaside at Aberavon Beach is within easy reach, Waterfall Country in the Vale of Neath is not far, and Margam Country Park has acres of countryside, a castle and a deer park.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Depot Rd dog friendly?

Yes, Depot Rd welcomes up to four dogs, making it one of the larger dog-friendly conversions in the Afan Valley. The property has two fully enclosed outdoor spaces — an inner courtyard and a rear garden — so dogs can be let out safely without any headcount anxiety.

  • Are dogs allowed at Depot Rd year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, and the setup — with a wood burner, enclosed outdoor spaces, and plenty of indoor room — suits a visit in any season. For confirmation of availability at specific times of year, it's worth checking directly with the property.

  • What should I know before visiting Depot Rd with my dog?

The property takes up to four dogs across its two enclosed outdoor spaces, which gives you real flexibility — you can keep one dog away from the barbecue in the rear garden while the others have the courtyard, for instance. Nearby, Afan Forest Park has forestry tracks that work well for walks, Aberavon Beach offers a long flat run on Swansea Bay, and Margam Country Park has open ground and a deer park that four dogs apparently find very agreeable.
