The house stands in beautiful secure grounds in the Derbyshire countryside, with an enclosed garden all the way round it, bench seating and a hot tub. Arrival is through a large hallway with a handy utility room to one side, the place to shed coats and shoes and give the dogs a rub down after a walk. The large kitchen has a warming AGA and bar seating, and the dining room has an incredible oak table as its centrepiece.
The lounge is large and inviting, with luxurious soft seating, beamed ceilings and patio windows looking into the garden. Back from the hills, the dogs make straight for its wood burner. There are three wood burners in all, the others in the ground floor twin, where patio doors give onto the garden, and in one of the super king rooms on the middle floor. Right at the top, a space for play holds a pool table, books, board games and a snug.
Tideswell has great restaurants, independent shops and friendly pubs. The plague village of Eyam is 5 miles away, with its fascinating history and pretty local walks to share with the dogs, and Castleton, 8 miles off, has caverns, dramatic scenery and the unique Blue John stone. Buxton, with Go Ape, Buxton Country Park and Poole's Cavern, makes another good day out.
