1 / 16Glen Rosa
Ayr, South Ayrshire
A detached cottage for four near Alloway outside Ayr, with two large enclosed gardens, a garden studio with views to Arran, a wood burner and two dogs welcome.
Two large gardens, front and back, and both of them enclosed. Glen Rosa is a detached cottage in Burns Country, close to Alloway on the edge of Ayr, renovated with its character intact, and this dog friendly cottage takes four people and two dogs, with views over the Ayrshire coast to the Isle of Arran.
The rear garden is the bigger prize. It is lawned, with a patio and furniture, and at the end of it is a summer house that the owners call the studio: somewhere to sit and look at the view, pick up a paintbrush or simply do nothing while the dogs work their way round the edges. The front garden is enclosed too, so the dogs have the run of both.
The house spreads over three floors. On the ground floor are the living room with its wood burner and games console, a dining room, the kitchen with an electric range, and a super kingsize bedroom beside a shower room, so one bedroom is always on the level for an older dog or person. Upstairs is a second super kingsize and a bathroom, and at the top a second living room with games and films. Two couples, two dogs, and space enough that nobody is under anybody's feet.
Alloway is where Robert Burns was born, and his cottage, the museum and the Brig o' Doon are all close. The Ayrshire Coastal Path heads south along the shore towards Dunure, and the sands at Ayr, Prestwick and Troon give a dog miles of beach within a short drive. Culzean Castle and the dark skies of the Galloway forest are further out.

Book with cottages.comFrequently Asked Questions
Is Glen Rosa dog friendly?
Yes, Glen Rosa welcomes up to two dogs. The cottage has two large enclosed gardens — front and back — giving your dogs plenty of space to roam freely and safely without you having to worry about them getting out.
Are dogs allowed at Glen Rosa year round?
The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's worth contacting the owners directly to confirm availability for your dates. Given the enclosed gardens and the cottage's setup, it's clearly designed with dogs as a genuine priority rather than an afterthought.
What should I know before visiting Glen Rosa with my dog?
The cottage takes a maximum of two dogs, so bear that in mind when booking. On the practical side, the ground floor includes a bedroom and shower room, which is handy if you have an older or less mobile dog who'd struggle with stairs. The rear garden is the real bonus — lawned with a patio and a studio at the end with views to Arran, giving your dogs plenty of outdoor space to settle into.
