Across the valley from Greenacres stands the National Trust's Lyme Park, and the view of it is one of the great pleasures of this period family home in a quiet part of Disley. Twelve guests and two dogs can share it, a dog friendly home for celebrations, family occasions and long days out walking.

Inside, the hallways are beautiful, large spaces in their own right. The kitchen looks out over the property's own woods and on towards the Peak District, with a coffee table placed to make the most of the vista, and a separate dining room seats the whole party for a celebration meal. Of the two lounges, the main one gathers everyone round its wood burner on cosy evenings, the dogs stretched out nearby, while the Garden Room offers more casual seating. Pool and board games fill the games room, and the Library Hall is kept quiet for reading.

Six beautiful bedrooms upstairs all have wonderful views from their windows, with three luxury wet room bathrooms with body jet showers plus a family bathroom with a bath. Outside are glorious views, lovely lawns for family games and an enclosed, private, walled garden with a sun lounger patio, and to the rear the hot tub overlooks the hills. Twin brick BBQs and outdoor seating make dining outside easy, with the dogs never far from the action.

Lyme Park is 2 miles away, with acres of gardens and woodland and a grand mansion, wonderful country for walking the dogs. The Middlewood Way follows an old railway line through beautiful countryside, Disley Golf Course is just across the road, and the village centre has restaurants, pubs, butchers and bakers to explore.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Greenacres dog friendly?

Greenacres welcomes up to two dogs, and the setup genuinely suits them. The garden is walled, private and fully enclosed, and the house has its own woodland below the garden wall, accessed through a gate directly from the property — so your dogs can be out in the trees first thing without leaving the grounds.

  • Are dogs allowed at Greenacres year round?

The listing doesn't specify seasonal restrictions on dogs, and nothing in the property description suggests otherwise. If you want to confirm availability for specific dates, it's worth checking directly with the host.

  • What should I know before visiting Greenacres with my dog?

The two most useful things to know before you arrive are that the walled garden is fully enclosed and the woodland below it belongs to the house, giving your dogs secure outdoor space without any faff. Just up the hill, Lyme Park is a brilliant walk but dogs go on leads in areas where red deer are present, so it's worth knowing that before you head through the gate.
