Porthcawl, Bridgend
A modern coastal house for four in Porthcawl with underfloor heating, an oak staircase and an enclosed walled garden, two dogs welcome, less than a mile from Trecco Bay.
Hooklands is a modern, contemporary coastal home in Porthcawl, less than a mile from the popular Trecco Bay resort, with beaches, a nature reserve and an extensive promenade all within a couple of miles. This dog friendly home sleeps four, with two dogs welcome, and bikes and surfboards are welcome too.
Subtle seaside touches run through the house, and underfloor heating warms the ground floor, which the two dogs will discover almost as soon as they are through the door. The lounge has comfy seating for relaxing after a day of exploring and opens into a sleek, contemporary kitchen and dining space, with a Nespresso Vertuo machine for the mornings.
A beautifully crafted oak staircase leads up to the bedrooms: a single with lovely big windows, a light and airy room with a double bed for one guest, and the king size bedroom with its own en suite, alongside a large wet room. Out at the back, the enclosed walled garden has a slated patio, an artificial lawn and dining furniture, where the dogs can flop down after the beach while supper is on the table.
Kenfig Nature Reserve is the start of a 3 mile coastal walk past shipwrecks and dunes packed with wildlife, a walk two dogs will relish, and it ends at Rest Bay, a long, golden, west facing beach 2.5 miles from the house with a state of the art watersports centre. Cycle routes between Trecco Bay and Rest Bay start on the doorstep, and Swansea Bay and Cardiff are within reach for a day further afield.

Book with holidaycottages.co.ukFrequently Asked Questions
Is Hooklands dog friendly?
Yes, Hooklands welcomes up to two dogs. The house has an enclosed garden at the back, underfloor heating on the ground floor (which your dogs will find immediately), and a wet room downstairs for rinsing everyone off after a day at the beach.
Are dogs allowed at Hooklands year round?
The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's worth checking directly with the owner to confirm availability for your dates. What's clear is that the setup — enclosed garden, wet room, easy beach access — suits a dog-friendly stay at any time of year.
What should I know before visiting Hooklands with my dog?
You can bring up to two dogs, and the house is genuinely set up for them — enclosed garden, underfloor heating and a wet room for post-beach clean-ups. Bikes and surfboards are actively welcomed too, so if you're planning active days out, the house has you covered. Rest Bay is 1.5 miles round the headland and spacious enough that two dogs won't be in anyone's way, and Kenfig National Nature Reserve is close by for a quieter walk through dunes to the shore.
