Lamorna Cottage is a charming, traditional Cornish cottage in Delabole, full of original features, and the one everybody gathers round is the inglenook fireplace with its wood burner. Four guests and two dogs stay here, close to the North Cornish coast, which makes it a fine dog friendly base for Port Isaac, Padstow and Tintagel.
An original slate pathway and a lovely porch lead in to the characterful lounge and diner, where comfortable corner seating faces the TV and the inglenook, and both dogs bag the spot by the wood burner the moment the first basket of logs is alight. A single step takes you into the perfectly appointed kitchen, down to a coffee machine and an air fryer, and the bathroom is also on the ground floor. Upstairs are a well proportioned double with views across the village playing fields and a sweet bunk room.
The front of the cottage has a lovely enclosed lawn, furnished for meals and with a charcoal BBQ of its own, a pretty cottage garden for eating outdoors after a day exploring. The dogs have a sniff round the lawn, the BBQ is lit, and the day's beach sand is still turning up in their coats.
Magnificent views of the North Cornish coastline open up from the South West Coast Path nearby, and the beach is 2 miles away. Trebarwith Strand, which the owners note is pet friendly, has a surf school and lifeguards in the summer season, and Boscastle, Rock and the beautifully rugged Bodmin Moor are there for the dogs on other days.
