Livingstone Cottage is a spacious detached cottage in the peaceful village of Washingborough, overlooking open fields yet 3.5 miles from Lincoln by car, bus or a scenic riverside walk. There is room for six in this dog friendly cottage, which welcomes dogs no larger than medium size, and the riverbank is 0.5 miles away for the first walk of the day.

You step straight into the dining room, with a vaulted ceiling, exposed beams and pretty views over the fields, a fine room for a celebration meal. An electric range cooker heads up the kitchen, with a seating area close by for catching up while somebody cooks. The lounge offers ample comfy seating and a TV, with a snug area and a quiet nook for a book, and the dogs will have curled up somewhere close before the first chapter is done. Coats and walking gear go in the utility after a day out in the fields.

The first floor holds two double bedrooms, a twin and a nursery with a cot bed, and the cottage has two bathrooms, one a family bathroom with the shower over the bath. The enclosed garden is the real highlight, with seating and sun loungers for morning coffee, relaxed afternoons and meals outside with the rural view, and the dogs lying out in the sun beside the loungers. At Christmas the cottage can be decorated on request.

Walks and cycle routes follow the nearby river, and a dog can take the riverbank all the way into Lincoln. The city has its cathedral, the castle with its medieval re-enactments and concerts, the historic Bailgate with independent shops and eateries, and Christmas markets every year. RAF Waddington, home of the Red Arrows, is close by.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Livingstone Cottage dog friendly?

Yes, Livingstone Cottage welcomes up to two dogs. The cottage has an enclosed garden where dogs can roam safely, and a utility room with a shower at the entrance so muddy paws and wet coats are sorted before anyone reaches the carpet.

  • Are dogs allowed at Livingstone Cottage year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions, and the setup — utility room for drying off, enclosed garden, a riverside walk from half a mile away — suggests it's designed with dogs in mind whatever the weather. We'd recommend confirming directly with the owner if you're planning a winter or peak-season stay.

  • What should I know before visiting Livingstone Cottage with my dog?

The cottage takes a maximum of two dogs, and they enter through the utility room where there's a shower, keeping the rest of the cottage clean and dry. The garden is fully enclosed with open fields beyond the fence, and a riverside path into Lincoln starts just half a mile from the door — 3.5 miles of level, waterside walking with the cathedral ahead.
