Minerva House

Holt, Norfolk

A four bedroom town house for eight in the middle of Holt, with an enclosed landscaped garden behind walls, a wood burner, a boot room and one dog welcome.

Book now

The problem with a town house is where the dog goes. Minerva House answers it out the back, where an enclosed landscaped garden sits behind walls and opens straight off the rear doors, in the middle of a market town. Dog friendly, it takes eight people across four bedrooms and three bathrooms, and exactly one dog, which for a house of this scale is a deliberately small number.

A boot room by the front door takes the luggage and everything else that arrives with a party of eight, and a separate snug with a desk suits whoever has work to finish or has had enough of the lounge. That lounge has two sofas, two deep armchairs made for falling asleep in, and a burner. The dog will be in one of the armchairs by the second evening and somebody will be photographing it.

Eight sit down together in the kitchen and dining room, which is the largest room in the house and the one everybody ends up in. A utility takes the machines away from the cooking and a WC and cloakroom sit off the hall, so the ground floor divides properly between the muddy parts of a holiday and the rest. The garden is where the dog and the mud both stop.

A market town of brick and flint, Holt keeps a high street of independent shops, galleries and places to eat, and the whole of it is walkable from this door. Holt Country Park lies 0.7 miles off, a hundred acres of pine and broadleaf with waymarked circuits and a lake, and it is the dog's everyday walk here rather than the special one. The coast is a short drive north when sand is wanted.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Minerva House dog friendly?

Yes, Minerva House welcomes dogs, and it's set up thoughtfully for them. There's an enclosed landscaped garden behind the house where the dog can be outside safely, a boot room by the front door for muddy arrivals, and — if the description is anything to go by — at least one very comfortable armchair waiting to be claimed.

  • Are dogs allowed at Minerva House year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's worth checking directly with the property when you book to confirm availability for your dates. What we do know is that the setup — enclosed garden, boot room, easy access to Holt Country Park — suits a dog visit at any time of year.

  • What should I know before visiting Minerva House with my dog?

Minerva House takes exactly one dog, which is worth knowing if you were hoping to bring more than one. The enclosed garden is a real practical bonus for a town centre property, giving your dog a secure outdoor space without needing to head straight out onto the street. Holt Country Park is just 0.7 miles away with waymarked walks through pine and broadleaf woodland, and the North Norfolk coast is a short drive north when you fancy a beach day.
