Nursery Cottage - Beccles

Beccles, Suffolk

Nursery Cottage takes two people and up to three dogs at Beccles in Suffolk, a one bedroom conversion with its own enclosed garden and exclusive use of a fenced two acre paddock.

Book now

Nursery Cottage was the servants' quarters of the big house whose grounds it still stands in, and the arrangement has since been turned round: the dogs get the two acres now. A one bedroom dog friendly conversion at Beccles for two people and up to three dogs, with a fully enclosed private garden of its own and exclusive use of a fenced paddock beyond that the owners call dog proof.

One open room does the living, sofa at one end and the cooking at the other, and a bedroom off it whose French doors open onto the patio. A shower room finishes it. The bed looks out over paddocks, and the garden is planted, beds and borders round a shingled patch where the table stands, so a dog has planting, shingle and a door left open all day.

The paddock is where the week gets its shape. Two fenced acres with nobody else in them, and the public footpaths leaving from the far side, so a run turns into a walk with no gate to find and no road to cross. Two adults, no children, and as many as three dogs is the owners' rule, and a couple whose dogs travel as a pack is who this was converted for.

A market town on the Waveney, Beccles stands at the southern gate of the Broads with a quay and the Marsh Trail looping out through the grazing on the far bank. The river is a short walk, the town not much further, and past both the marsh runs level to the horizon. A dog gets water beside a path for as far as it wants, and the coast is eight miles east for the days a beach is called for.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Nursery Cottage - Beccles dog friendly?

Nursery Cottage is genuinely built around dogs — it was converted specifically for couples who travel with a pack. You get a fully enclosed private garden and exclusive use of a fenced two-acre paddock, with public footpaths leaving directly from the far side so walks begin the moment you open the gate.

  • Are dogs allowed at Nursery Cottage - Beccles year round?

The listing doesn't specify seasonal restrictions, and the setup — a private enclosed garden, a dedicated fenced paddock, and direct access to footpaths and the Beccles Marsh Trail — suits a dog visit at any time of year. For confirmation of specific dates and availability, it's worth checking directly with the owners.

  • What should I know before visiting Nursery Cottage - Beccles with my dog?

The cottage takes a maximum of three dogs and is reserved for two adults with no children, so it's designed for exactly that combination. The French doors from the bedroom open onto the patio and can be left open all day, and the paddock connects straight to public footpaths with no road to cross first. The coast is eight miles east for beach days, and the River Waveney is a short walk from the cottage for those who want water on the doorstep.
