Wiveton was a port once. The sea has gone north since, leaving a green with a church, a bridge over the river that used to carry the ships, and Cley across the water with the marsh beyond. Parva Cottage is a dog friendly end of terrace here for five, a bedroom and bathroom at ground level, a burner in the lounge one dog welcome, the garden behind enclosed.

The ground floor double has the bathroom beside it, bath and shower cubicle both. The second bedroom is up a stair the owners call steep, a triple with a double, a single and a bed that folds out, which is why five here means four adults and a child. The lounge holds the burner and the dining table under beams, the kitchen off it, and one dog gets the whole ground floor without ever seeing the stair.

Behind the cottage a sheltered patio takes the table and the barbecue, and past that a lawn runs to a fence with meadows on the far side, all of it enclosed, so a dog has grass of its own and a meadow to keep an eye on. Wiveton Hall is a mile off with a farm shop, a restaurant and a maze cut into the maize in season.

Cley's marsh is a mile away, the oldest wildlife trust reserve in the country, reed and lagoon between the village and a shingle bank, the coast path following the crest of it. West along the shore Blakeney Point runs out as a spit of shingle and dune with seals hauled out at the end. A dog gets shingle, marsh edge and a long way on a lead before anybody needs the car.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Parva Cottage dog friendly?

Yes, Parva Cottage welcomes one dog. The ground floor is entirely theirs — a double bedroom and bathroom sit at that level, so a dog never needs to tackle the stairs the owners describe as steep. Out the back, there's an enclosed patio and lawn with meadows beyond the fence, giving a dog plenty of space to roam safely.

  • Are dogs allowed at Parva Cottage year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's worth checking directly with the owners to confirm availability for your dates. What we do know is that the surrounding area — Cley marshes, Blakeney Point and the coast path — offers excellent walking in every season.

  • What should I know before visiting Parva Cottage with my dog?

The cottage accommodates one dog, so it's not suitable for multi-dog households. The garden is fully enclosed, which is great for letting a dog out safely, but much of the nearby walking — including the marsh edge at Cley and out along Blakeney Point — is on a lead, so pack accordingly. Wiveton Hall's farm shop and restaurant are just a mile away if you need supplies during your stay.
