Polruan, Cornwall
A newly built ten sleeper above Polruan with an enclosed garden, three dogs welcome, and three coast walks rated eight or better within two miles.
Portside is new, which in Polruan is rare enough to be worth stating. Five bedrooms, every one of them super king and splittable into twins, three bathrooms, large balconies and coastal views over the Fowey estuary. Ten people and three dogs, in a village where most houses were built for a good deal fewer of both.
Take the balcony and the view. Your dog is three tenths of a mile from St Catherine's Castle and half a mile from the start of the Fowey to Polkerris coast walk, which rates an eight with us. Lantic Bay and the Gribbin Head circular are both inside two miles and rate the same. Three eight rated walks and a castle inside a twenty minute stroll is close to the best a Cornish base can do.
Outside, the enclosed garden holds the coastal view, so the dogs are out in it while you are. Three dogs, and the one thing to weigh is the gradient. Polruan is steep in almost every direction, which a fit dog will treat as a bonus and an older one will not. The flatter walking is on the Fowey side, ten minutes away on the passenger ferry, so the answer is there if you need it.

Book with holidaycottages.co.ukFrequently Asked Questions
Is Portside dog friendly?
Yes, Portside welcomes up to three dogs. The property has an enclosed garden with coastal views, so your dogs can be outside with you without needing to be on a lead.
Are dogs allowed at Portside year round?
The listing doesn't specify seasonal restrictions on dogs, but we'd recommend confirming directly with the property when you book, as policies can change.
What should I know before visiting Portside with my dog?
The main thing to factor in is the terrain — Polruan is steep in almost every direction, which suits a fit dog well but may be harder going for older or less mobile ones. If your dog finds the hills a challenge, flatter walking is available on the Fowey side of the estuary, a short trip away on the passenger ferry. On the plus side, the enclosed garden means your dogs have safe outdoor space, and three coast walks rated eight out of ten are all within two miles of the front door.
