Robin's Barn

Haytons Bent, Shropshire

A one bedroom barn for two at Haytons Bent near Ludlow, with a fully enclosed area inside a large garden, an outdoor dog hose and two dogs welcome.

Book now

The garden here is large and a section of it is fully fenced, which is better than either would be on its own. Two dogs get secure ground to be turned out into and open ground to be walked round, and nobody has to decide which the garden is going to be. Robin's Barn sleeps two at Haytons Bent south of Ludlow, five star, dog friendly, one bedroom and one shower room, with an outdoor hose put in for washing dogs down. A barn for two that takes two dogs is running at one each.

Inside is a single open living space finished to a standard that makes no apology for being in a field. The lanes out of the hamlet are the walking: narrow, hedged both sides, threading through places too small to count as villages before the ground climbs. Two dogs come back off them needing that hose, which is presumably why somebody fitted it.

It suits two people who wanted the south of the county rather than the middle. This is quiet country by Shropshire standards, farmland breaking into hills, and Haytons Bent is a name on a lane more than a place with a centre to it. Two dogs get the fenced part of the garden at either end of the day and the whole of the rest in between.

Ludlow, 4.4 miles north, is a medieval town nobody ever much altered: a castle on the bluff above the Teme, a street plan laid out in the twelfth century and still followed, and a market held in the square since before the castle finished falling down. Two dogs get the river walk under the walls, level the whole way round and shaded most of it.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Robin's Barn dog friendly?

Robin's Barn welcomes up to two dogs, which works out neatly at one dog per person for a couple staying there. The garden is a real asset — a large space with a fully fenced section for secure turnout, plus open ground beyond it, so your dogs have options at either end of the day.

  • Are dogs allowed at Robin's Barn year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, and nothing in the setup suggests otherwise — the outdoor dog hose and fenced garden are practical features built into the property rather than a seasonal arrangement. It's worth confirming directly with the owner when you book.

  • What should I know before visiting Robin's Barn with my dog?

You can bring a maximum of two dogs, and the garden's fenced section gives them somewhere secure to be turned out without needing to be on a lead the whole time. The lanes directly out of Haytons Bent are the main walking — narrow, hedged and quiet, threading through farmland and up into hills — and there's an outdoor hose on hand for washing muddy dogs down when you get back. If you're up for a short drive, Ludlow is 4.4 miles north and has a river walk under the castle walls that's level and largely shaded.
