Rose Compass Cottage is a lovely two bedroom brick cottage in the sweet village of East Hoathly, and its spacious enclosed garden, with a large lawn, a furnished patio and a fire pit, gives a dog plenty to explore all week. Four guests and one dog are welcome in this dog friendly cottage, which makes an excellent springboard for a holiday in East Sussex.
The cottage has been lovingly updated with respect for its period style, keeping its pretty stained glass and sash windows and its stable style doors. Coats and shoes stay in the front porch, and the cosy lounge has sofas, a Smart TV hidden behind a mirror above the fireplace and a charming open fire, the first basket of logs on the house. Once that fire is lit, the dog will not be far from it.
From the kitchen, with its wood topped breakfast island, a couple of steps lead into the glorious light filled conservatory, where a dining table and comfortable seating look out over the garden. Upstairs there is a comfortable double and a large bathroom with pretty black, white and grey floor tiles, and a second flight climbs to the king size bedroom in the eaves. Evenings end out on the patio around the fire pit, with the dog on the lawn beside you.
For walks, the High Weald National Landscape is 3 miles away and the South Downs National Park 6 miles, both with excellent walking for a dog. The historic town of Lewes is packed with independent shops and cosy pubs, Glyndebourne opera house is close by, and Seaford and Eastbourne, with its Victorian pier, are within reach for a day by the sea.
