Rose Cottage - Higher Worthyvale Farm

Boscastle, Cornwall

A farm cottage above Boscastle at the cheapest end of our Cornwall list, with an enclosed garden, a hot tub, and Bodmin Moor and the north coast both within three miles for your dog.

Three hundred and seventy seven pounds for a week is the cheapest Cornwall gets on our list, and Rose Cottage is not a compromise for the money. It is a two bedroom conversion on Higher Worthyvale Farm above Boscastle, one of a small group of them, with a wood burner, a hot tub and one dog welcome.

Do Boscastle harbour and the Tintagel coast at your own pace. Your dog gets an unusually varied three miles. Bossiney Haven is a sandy cove at two and a half. The Boscastle to Tintagel coast walk starts at three. And at the same distance inland, Rough Tor and Brown Willy put you on Bodmin Moor, which rates a nine with us and is the closest thing Cornwall has to open fell. Sea in one direction, granite and heather in the other, from one front door.

This is a single dog household's week, the allowance being one rather than two. The garden is enclosed with a patio and seating out on it. There is a hot tub, and the owners ask that sandy paws and feet stay out of that, which is entirely fair after an afternoon at Trebarwith Strand and is the sort of house rule that tells you they have thought about who actually stays here. It is a working farm, so leads go on around stock, and the moor above wants the same discipline in lambing season.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Rose Cottage - Higher Worthyvale Farm dog friendly?

Yes, Rose Cottage welcomes dogs — one per stay. The cottage has an enclosed garden with a patio, and the surrounding area is excellent for dogs, with Bodmin Moor and the north Cornish coast both within three miles.

  • Are dogs allowed at Rose Cottage - Higher Worthyvale Farm year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dog stays, so it's worth contacting the owners directly to confirm availability at the time of year you're planning to visit. Do bear in mind that Bodmin Moor requires dogs to be kept on leads during lambing season, which is worth factoring into your plans if you're visiting in spring.

  • What should I know before visiting Rose Cottage - Higher Worthyvale Farm with my dog?

The allowance is one dog only, so it's not suited to households with two or more dogs. Rose Cottage is a working farm, so leads are required around livestock, and the same applies on the moor during lambing season. The owners also ask that sandy paws and feet are kept out of the hot tub — a fair rule given how close you are to beaches like Trebarwith Strand and Bossiney Haven.
