For four guests it is a dog friendly stay with a great deal on hand: a two seater hot tub in its own enclosed garden, plus a heated endless pool and sauna shared with the site.
Rowan is laid out reverse level. The living space on the first floor oozes character, its beams overhead and wooden boards underfoot, and once the wood burner is crackling and a favourite film is on, the dogs give up on the day before anybody else does. Its kitchen area has all a holiday needs, from oven and hob to dishwasher. On the ground floor the king has an en suite, the bunk room has handcrafted L shaped wooden bunks built full size, and a family bathroom completes the floor.
Out in the enclosed garden are the hot tub, a chiminea, a charcoal BBQ and furniture to sit out on, and the three dogs draw in close when the chiminea is lit. Sociable families can head for the shared games room and its pool table, or to the on site bar, made from an old silo and open on Fridays with seating outside, where occasional live entertainment comes with free entry for guests.
Fowey, with its fine eateries and individual boutiques, is close at hand, and Charlestown's quay is a relaxing place for lunch. Lanhydrock and Restormel Castle are both worth a day, as are the Eden Project, Looe, Polperro and Lerryn. Then it is back to Golant, where the river path gives the dogs their morning walk.
