Pevensey Bay, Sussex

A four bedroom house for seven at Pevensey Bay with a secure rear garden, two en-suites, direct access to the beach and two dogs welcome.

Seven people is an awkward number to bed down and this house manages it. Four bedrooms, two kings, a twin and a single, so the odd one out gets a room instead of a sofa. Seagulls is a dog friendly house at Pevensey Bay with a secure garden behind, a way straight down onto the beach in front and two dogs welcome. The shingle bar runs east and west from the door.

A family bathroom, two shower rooms en-suite and a downstairs cloakroom, which is four places to wash between seven people and removes the argument from the morning entirely. Three adult bikes come with the house. The owners describe the rear garden as safe and secure, which is the phrase that counts at half past six on a dark evening when two dogs are going out and nobody intends to go with them.

The beach is the front garden here in every sense that matters. You cross the shingle, the dogs get into the water, everybody returns carrying most of it, and this is plainly a house that expects that rather than one putting up with it. Seven people and two dogs with the sea across the road is an uncomplicated week and it needs almost no planning.

The shore is a long bank of shingle thrown up in front of the marsh, and squat Martello towers still stand along it, thrown up in a hurry when Napoleon was expected and never once required. Walk west and the bank runs towards Eastbourne and the Crumbles. Walk east and it simply carries on as long as the legs do. Either way it is flat, wide and largely deserted, and two dogs get miles of it without a road to cross.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Seagulls dog friendly?

Yes, Seagulls welcomes up to two dogs. The house has a secure rear garden for letting them out safely, and the shingle beach is essentially on the doorstep — cross the stones and the dogs are in the water.

  • Are dogs allowed at Seagulls year round?

The listing doesn't specify seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's worth checking directly with the owners to confirm availability for your dates. The setup — secure garden, direct beach access, and a house that clearly expects wet dogs — suggests it works well as a year-round base.

  • What should I know before visiting Seagulls with my dog?

The house takes a maximum of two dogs, so if you're bringing more than that you'll need to check with the owners first. The rear garden is described as safe and secure, which is genuinely useful for early mornings or late evenings when you'd rather not head out with them. The beach running east and west from the door is flat, wide and largely quiet, with no roads to cross — good news for dogs who need a proper run.
