Snowdonia Stone House

Gellilydan, Gwynedd

A four bedroom stone house for eight at Gellilydan with a garden hedged all the way round, a paved patio, a separate games room and two dogs welcome.

The hedge goes all the way round, which is the first thing anybody with two dogs looks for. Snowdonia Stone House takes eight at Gellilydan, dog friendly, four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a paved patio inside that hedge and a picnic bench on it. Two dogs are welcome. You can open the back door with a cup of tea in your hand and not follow them out.

Eight people in a stone house need a second room to go to, and here it is a separate one with a games console and table football in it, which settles the evening. The utility does the washing and the drying, so what two dogs bring in off the hill does not stay on the floor. Bikes, canoes and paddleboards go into storage rather than into the hall.

Bedrooms run to a king, two doubles and a twin, and one of them has its own bathroom with a bath in it, which is the room to claim if you are the one who walks furthest. A shower room serves the rest. The dogs will settle in the kitchen, because that is where the door is and somebody is always standing in it.

Up the road at Trawsfynydd, 3 miles off, Tomen y Mur sits out on open moorland: a Roman fort with a Norman motte dropped into it and a grass ring beside it that is usually read as an amphitheatre, and almost nobody there. Yr Ysgwrn, the farm Hedd Wyn left for Passchendaele and where his chair came home draped in black, is close by and can be visited. Two dogs get moor, forest and lake shore without a long drive to any of it.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Snowdonia Stone House dog friendly?

Yes, Snowdonia Stone House welcomes up to two dogs. The property has a hedge running all the way round the garden with a paved patio, so your dogs can head outside without you having to follow them — a genuinely useful setup rather than just a token nod to dog owners.

  • Are dogs allowed at Snowdonia Stone House year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, but we'd recommend checking directly with the owner to confirm availability and any conditions around your stay.

  • What should I know before visiting Snowdonia Stone House with my dog?

The maximum is two dogs, so it's worth confirming that upfront if you're travelling with more. On the practical side, there's a utility room for washing and drying muddy kit, which makes life much easier after a day on the hill — and with moor, forest and lake shore all within easy reach of Gellilydan, muddy kit is fairly likely.
