Station House was once the station master's house beside the Wensleydale Railway, and since its imaginative refurbishment in 2018 it has become a glorious, award winning holiday home near the village of Wensley. Graded five stars and dog friendly, it sleeps six with one dog, and the railway still runs steam trains for day trips through the area.
At its heart is a spacious open plan lounge, kitchen and diner, filled with light from a glass wall and bi folding doors, with a double height ceiling and underfloor heating. The lounge has cosy seating and a warming wood burner, the kitchen has a range oven and two wine fridges, and there is a breakfast bar and a dining area. In the snug there is a second wood burner with a Smart TV, and this is where the dog naps after the day's walk.
On the ground floor, a twin room, which can be set up as a super king, overlooks the railway line and has its own shower room. Upstairs are two super kings: the first has an en suite shower room, the second overlooks the railway and has an en suite with a freestanding bath and walk in shower. Every bedroom has Sky Q, underfloor heating and complimentary gifts. Outside, the large, fully enclosed private garden has a lawn, stone terraces, a barbecue, a hot tub and a summer house stocked with garden games including croquet, and the dog patrols the lawn between games.
Leyburn, 2.5 miles away, is a charming market town with traditional shops, pubs, cafes and the biggest auction house outside London. Walkers and their dogs have Penhill and Bolton Castle nearby, and Middleham Castle, Aysgarth Falls and The Forbidden Corner are all easy days out.
