Tallett Cottage Ford

Temple Guiting, Gloucestershire

A two bedroom cottage for four at Ford near Temple Guiting, with an enclosed garden, both bedrooms en suite and one dog welcome.

Two king bedrooms, neither of them sharing a bathroom, and one dog allowed between four people. That last number is the one that shapes the booking, because a house arranged this evenly for two couples is not arranged evenly for their animals. Tallett Cottage stands at Ford in the high Cotswolds above Temple Guiting, five star, dog friendly, its garden enclosed with seating out in it. Working out in advance which couple brings the dog is a better conversation than having it in the car.

Once that is settled the place is close to ideal for four. Nobody queues for a bathroom, nobody is on a sofa, the lounge carries a wood burner and the garden a fence, and a single dog in a house of this standard is a great deal easier on everybody than three would be. Ford itself is a handful of buildings on the Guiting road with nothing else at it.

By nine the cottage is quiet in a way four people rarely manage. Two doors are shut upstairs, the burner has settled to the useful stage, somebody is still at the kitchen table, and the dog has gone to the door twice and been ignored twice because it is not going out again tonight. Nothing passes on the road.

Behind the hamlet, Guiting Wood runs along a shallow valley for the better part of 2 miles, old beech and ash with tracks under it and a stream at the bottom. That water is the Windrush, which this far up is small enough to step across and unrecognisable as the river it becomes downstream. One dog gets old beech with no honeypot attached to it.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Tallett Cottage Ford dog friendly?

Yes, Tallett Cottage is dog friendly and has an enclosed garden, which makes it a practical base for anyone travelling with a dog. One dog is welcome at the property, so it's worth confirming who's bringing the pet before you book if you're coming as two couples.

  • Are dogs allowed at Tallett Cottage Ford year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so there's nothing to suggest they aren't welcome throughout the year. If you have specific dates in mind, it's always worth checking directly with the property to confirm availability and any current terms.

  • What should I know before visiting Tallett Cottage Ford with my dog?

The key thing to know is that only one dog is allowed across the four guests, so if you're booking as two couples it's worth settling that detail before you travel. On the plus side, the garden is enclosed and there's excellent walking nearby — Guiting Wood runs for the better part of two miles behind the hamlet, with beech and ash woodland, quiet tracks, and the young River Windrush at the bottom of the valley.
