1 / 19Tan Y Graig
Harlech, Gwynedd
A home for eight at the foot of Harlech Castle, with four en suite bedrooms and an enclosed paved garden set against the castle rockface itself, one dog welcome.
Tan Y Graig sits at the foot of Harlech Castle, a beautifully decorated home full of warmth and charm in the Snowdonia National Park, and its enclosed paved garden is literally part of the castle's rockface. Eight guests and one dog can stay, and this dog friendly home is just 1 mile from the links golf course and the sandy beach.
The lounge, to the right of the hall, has comfortable sofas and a fireplace, its electric fire glowing on cosy evenings. Through from there, the kitchen and dining area looks over the garden to the castle rockface behind, and when everyone sits down round the table the dog will be close by, hoping for a share.
There are four en suite bedrooms, a double with a bathroom, a double with a shower room and two twins with shower rooms. Outside, the enclosed paved garden sits beneath the castle, furnished for dinner al fresco, charcoal BBQ included, and the dog can settle on the paving while the castle stands proudly above. A lockable shed takes the bikes, and there is space in the garden for a canoe and paddleboards.
Harlech is a coastal town with shops, cafes and restaurants, and from the door you can walk to the Royal St David's links course, the miles of sandy beach, the public swimming pool and the castle itself, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with Snowdonia behind it. Portmeirion and the Ffestiniog Railway are 5 miles away near Porthmadog, and the coast beyond is dotted with pretty towns and villages for a day out with one dog.

Is Tan Y Graig dog friendly?
Yes, Tan Y Graig welcomes one dog. The house comes with an enclosed paved garden at the foot of the crag, so your dog has a secure outdoor space to settle into from the moment you arrive. Morfa Harlech's dunes and beach are also a short distance north of town and well worth a visit with a dog in tow.
Are dogs allowed at Tan Y Graig year round?
The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it appears one dog is welcome whenever you stay. If you want to be certain, it's always worth checking with the property directly before you book.
What should I know before visiting Tan Y Graig with my dog?
The property accommodates one dog, so it's not the right fit if you're travelling with more than one. The enclosed paved garden gives a safe outdoor space, and the house layout has bedrooms on two levels, which is handy if you have an older dog who'd rather avoid stairs. Nearby, Morfa Harlech nature reserve has dunes and a long beach that the description suggests dogs get a great deal out of.
