The Beach Hut - Felpham

Felpham, Sussex

A two bedroom house for four at Felpham on the Sussex coast, with an enclosed garden, a conservatory off the twin bedroom, a wood burner and one dog welcome.

A conservatory leading off a bedroom is not an arrangement anybody designs twice. At The Beach Hut it opens from the twin, which gives whoever sleeps there a glass room for their coffee and a dog the warmest floor in the building. The Beach Hut is dog friendly, sleeps four at Felpham, keeps an enclosed garden and two shower rooms, takes one dog, and puts the sea at the end of a short walk.

One shower room belongs to the king and a second serves everybody else, which at four people removes the one argument a house this size generates. A burner stands in the lounge with its first basket of logs, a welcome pack waits on arrival, and out the back an enclosed and furnished garden is where a sandy dog gets dealt with.

Felpham is a village in its own right rather than a suburb of anywhere, and the house sits on a private estate inside it, so the roads immediately around are quiet and they are level. With a dog that matters more than it sounds. Getting to the water means walking rather than driving, flat the whole way, and an older animal does the round trip on its own legs.

Blake spent three years at Felpham, the only stretch of his life lived outside London, and wrote the lines that became Jerusalem in a cottage here. His shoreline has kept its shape: shingle along the top of the beach, sand appearing as the tide drops, and a promenade running the length of it that a dog walks without meeting a hill. East of the village the pattern carries on with very little built behind it once the houses stop.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is The Beach Hut - Felpham dog friendly?

Yes, The Beach Hut welcomes one dog. The property has an enclosed garden out the back, which is a handy spot for sorting out a sandy dog after a beach trip, and the house is a short, flat walk from the sea.

  • Are dogs allowed at The Beach Hut - Felpham year round?

The listing doesn't specify seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's worth checking directly with the owner to confirm availability for your dates. What we can say is that the setup — enclosed garden, quiet level roads, and easy beach access — suits a dog visit at any time of year.

  • What should I know before visiting The Beach Hut - Felpham with my dog?

The property takes one dog, so it's not the right fit if you're travelling with more than that. The good news is that the walk to the beach is flat the whole way, which is worth knowing if you have an older dog, and the roads on the private estate immediately around the house are quiet and level too.
