The Cider Press - Tirley

Tirley, Gloucestershire

A one bedroom conversion for two at Tirley near Cheltenham, on a working farm with an enclosed garden, a hot tub inside it and two dogs welcome.

Five stars, and a working farmyard outside the door. The Cider Press takes two people and two dogs at Tirley in the flat country north of Gloucester, dog friendly, one king bedroom, one shower room, no stairs anywhere, with enclosed gardens behind and a hot tub standing in them. Everything about the finish says one thing and everything about the address says another. A yard with tractors in it and a five star conversion inside is not a pairing anybody plans, and it is the reason to book.

The hot tub being inside the enclosure rather than outside it is the detail worth noticing. Most sit on a deck beyond the fence, which means somebody gets out wet to fetch a dog back. Here the fence goes round the lot, so two dogs stay loose while two people sit in the water. There is a wood burner indoors for the other half of the year.

The owners say in plain writing that there is a camera on the farm access and nowhere else. Nobody puts that in a listing unless they have thought about how it reads, and an owner who volunteers the awkward line has usually got the rest right too. Two dogs get a farm lane, a fenced garden and a couple who are not going anywhere much.

Two miles down the vale, Deerhurst has a church that was standing before the Conquest and has barely been touched since, and a second Saxon chapel a field away that spent centuries disguised as a farmhouse. Both sit in flood meadow that goes on for miles without a contour in it. Two dogs get level ground and the two oldest roofs in the county.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is The Cider Press - Tirley dog friendly?

Yes, The Cider Press welcomes up to two dogs. The enclosed garden wraps around the hot tub, so your dogs can roam freely outside while you're in the water — a genuinely practical setup that makes a real difference.

  • Are dogs allowed at The Cider Press - Tirley year round?

There's nothing in the listing to suggest any seasonal restriction, and the setup suits year-round visits well. When the hot tub draws you outside in warmer months, there's a wood burner indoors to come back to in colder ones.

  • What should I know before visiting The Cider Press - Tirley with my dog?

The property is on a working farm, so there's an active farmyard outside the door — worth keeping in mind if your dogs are easily distracted. The owners are upfront that there's a camera on the farm access road, and the enclosed garden means your dogs have a safe, fenced space to use freely. Nearby, the flood meadows at Deerhurst offer miles of flat, level walking — good news if your dog appreciates a decent outing.
