You can reach Applecross the long way round by the coast road or over the famous Bealach na Ba, and either way The Estate Office waits at the end with a pebble beach literally on its doorstep. It is a listed beach house on a wild, tranquil peninsula with views towards Skye and the Cuillins, and a dog friendly one, welcoming two dogs. Six bedrooms and four bathrooms sleep twelve.
Inside, the house is cosy yet contemporary, light filled and designed to make the most of the views. Boots go in the utility room after a walk along the seafront, and the two dogs are welcome on the ground floor, on its hard floors. The well equipped kitchen serves a family sized dining table, and the sitting room has a wood burner and seating for ten to twelve. One king size en suite is on the ground floor, three more kings and the main bathroom are on the first floor, and two twins are on the second.
Outside, the enclosed garden at the front is a serene spot for a pot of tea and a slab of homemade cake while the dogs wait for the next walk. Beyond it the pebble beach is there to explore to your heart's content, with the sound of the sea for company.
There are walks from the doorstep, an abundance of wildlife and sunsets to stop for, and two dogs with sea legs will treat the beach as their own by the second day. The friendly Applecross Inn is close by on foot, the Walled Garden café about a mile, and all around them the peninsula's mountains and coastline are awe inspiring.
