Lamlash Beach, a long strip of soft sand, is a few hundred metres from the front door of The Sheiling, and a path from the garden leads down to the sea. Spacious and light filled, this family beach house on Arran sleeps eight and is dog friendly too. One dog is welcome, with a large enclosed garden of lawns, mature trees and shrubs to explore.
Everything is on one level. The living room is spacious, with fantastic views out over the water, a large bay window with a window seat for the sunsets and a choice of comfortable sofas, and the open plan kitchen and diner has a family table where everyone gathers for meals. Come back from the sand and the dog will find its spot while dinner comes together. The main house holds a master bedroom with an en suite, a double, a twin, a separate cot bedroom and a family bathroom, and the fourth bedroom, a double with an en suite, is in the annexe.
Outside there is a seating area with furniture for eating in the open air, and the lawns give the dog room to roam while the children play. The house suits a family gathering or two families sharing, and the walk down the garden path to the sea becomes the first and last outing of every day.
Lamlash has a good choice of cafes and restaurants, and Brodick, 3 miles away, has more still. There are plenty of easy walking trails nearby for the dog, and with the beach so close, the days can be as active or as gentle as you like.
