The Sheiling

Lamlash, Isle of Arran

A single level house for eight at Lamlash on Arran with an annexe bedroom, a bay window over the water and an enclosed garden, one dog welcome.

Book now

The Sheiling solves the two families problem: a single level house at Lamlash sleeping eight, with a fourth double in its own separate annexe, so somebody's grandparents or somebody's teenagers get a front door of their own. One dog is welcome, the garden is enclosed with lawns and mature trees, and a path leads from it down towards the sea. Dog friendly Arran for a full house.

The living room earns its keep with a big bay window and window seat over the water, sofas arranged for the long evenings, and an open plan kitchen diner whose table genuinely seats everyone. A king with en suite, a double, a twin and a dedicated cot room fill the main house, with the annexe double and its en suite across the way; the dog sleeps wherever its favourite people ended up.

Lamlash Beach, a long strip of soft sand, begins a few hundred metres from the front door, and the bay does the rest: Holy Isle standing offshore, kayaks in the water, dogs and children working the tideline in shifts. Brodick's bigger choice sits 3 miles up the coast.

Goatfell and the mountain ridge fill the northern skyline for the big walk, the coastal path connects the bays, and the rest of Scotland in miniature spreads out from the ferry. The dog's own map is smaller and better: garden, path, sand, and back for dinner.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is The Sheiling dog friendly?

Yes, The Sheiling welcomes one dog. The house has an enclosed garden with lawns and mature trees, and a path leads directly from the garden down towards the sea, so your dog has a ready-made route to the beach without touching a road.

  • Are dogs allowed at The Sheiling year round?

The listing doesn't specify seasonal restrictions, so it's worth checking directly with the owner when you book. What we do know is that Lamlash Beach is just a few hundred metres from the front door, making it a great base whatever time of year you visit.

  • What should I know before visiting The Sheiling with my dog?

The property accepts one dog, so if you're travelling with more than one it's best to confirm with the owner before booking. The garden is enclosed, which is reassuring if your dog likes to wander, and Lamlash Beach is an easy walk from the house for the daily run-around.
