From its elevated spot on a wooded hillside at Llanelltyd, Ty Bryn Bach gazes over the treetops and down the valley to the estuary. This luxury contemporary, dog friendly retreat is made for friends, family and the dog to explore Snowdonia National Park together, and it sleeps six, with room for two dogs as well.

Light pours into every room, and underfloor heating keeps the stylish interiors warm underfoot. Floor to ceiling feature windows fill the kitchen diner with natural light, and its doors open onto the paved balcony, where a table and chairs sit high above the tidal estuary and breakfast can move outside while the dogs watch for wildlife. In the lounge, comfortable chairs turn towards the treetop view, and the showcase wood burner, lit from a supplied first basket, brings two dogs in close on the cosier nights.

Upstairs, the double with an en suite shower, the second double and the twin all wake to fabulous views, and a stylish bathroom offers a long soak in the bath. Out in the enclosed garden, both dogs sprawl across the lawn while supper is cooked on the charcoal BBQ and eaten at the outdoor table, and the sunsets are worth lingering over with a sundowner in hand.

Dolgellau, with pubs, shops and cycle hire, is 1 mile away, and the Mawddach Trail makes an easy day's walking for the dogs. Coed-y-Brenin Forest Park and Barmouth's beaches and harbour are within 5 miles, and Harlech, castle and all, lies further up the coast.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Ty Bryn Bach dog friendly?

Yes, Ty Bryn Bach welcomes dogs — up to two of them. It's a thoughtfully set up place for dogs too, with an enclosed lawn so they can be outside safely, underfloor heating throughout to dry them off after a walk, and a balcony they'll almost certainly be queuing at before you've had your morning coffee.

  • Are dogs allowed at Ty Bryn Bach year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, and nothing in the property description suggests otherwise. For confirmation of availability during your specific dates, it's worth checking directly with the host when you book.

  • What should I know before visiting Ty Bryn Bach with my dog?

The house takes a maximum of two dogs, so bear that in mind if you're travelling with more. The enclosed lawn gives them a safe outdoor space, and the underfloor heating is genuinely useful for drying off after wet walks — of which there will likely be many, given the Mawddach Trail runs practically from the doorstep. That trail follows the old railway line for 9 miles along the estuary with minimal gradient, making it an easy and very rewarding outing for dogs of all ages.
