Book now

Ty Watton enjoys a secluded spot between Pen y Fan and Llangorse Lake, along a quiet, grassy no through lane close to Aber Village, a dog friendly cottage made for keen walkers in the Brecon Beacons National Park. Two dogs are welcome, and the porch at the entrance has plenty of room for muddy boots and coats when everyone comes back in.

The lounge is warm and peaceful, with original exposed oak beams, a wood burner set in a stone fireplace with logs provided, and Welsh blankets laid across the seating. Board games, jigsaws and a music centre fill the evenings while the dogs doze by the fire. The light kitchen and diner has a Lavazza coffee machine and a charming dining area, with a utility room and separate WC on the ground floor.

Upstairs are three cosy bedrooms, two doubles and a twin, and there is a family bathroom where a shower sits over the bath. Outside, the cottage sits within wonderful and extensive gardens, imaginatively tiered, with room for children to play, a paved terrace, a BBQ and garden furniture. At the bottom of the garden a gate leads out to a shallow stream, and the owner notes that a stream runs through the back garden, which is worth knowing as the dogs explore the tiers.

Talybont Reservoir lies 1 mile to the south and is a wonderful spot for birdwatching, and the Taff Trail, the Brinore Tramroad and the Henry Vaughan Walk all give a dog long days out, with the Blaen y Glyn waterfalls nearby. Brecon, 8.5 miles away, has a theatre, a historic cathedral and independent shops.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Ty Watton dog friendly?

Yes, Ty Watton welcomes up to two dogs. The ground around the house is enclosed, so once you've shut the gate behind them they have room to roam freely while you get on with your evening.

  • Are dogs allowed at Ty Watton year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's worth contacting the owner directly to confirm availability for your dates. What we do know is that the surrounding valley offers excellent walking whatever the season, with forest roads, reservoir tracks and waterfall paths all close by.

  • What should I know before visiting Ty Watton with my dog?

There's a stream running along the far side of the garden, which is worth knowing about before you open the gate — the listing flags it specifically because it shapes how the garden is managed. Dogs come back into the house through the utility room rather than the kitchen, which is a practical touch that keeps muddy paws where they belong after a walk.
