Vega

Llangollen, Denbighshire

Vega looks out on one of the most dramatic views in the Dee Valley, a fully enclosed cabin for two above Llangollen, five minutes' walk from the wild sauna, dogs welcome.

Book now

Vega has one of the most dramatic views around, set in the Dee Valley above Llangollen, and with the cabin fully enclosed it makes a relaxing dog friendly stay for two. Come here to disconnect, spend time with your favourite person and walk the dog on some of Shacks' favourite routes in and around the town.

With sheep sometimes grazing nearby, dogs are kept on the lead coming to and from the cabin. You can drive up the stone track and park at the top, then walk the last 50m, and the gates should be closed behind you.

Don't leave without watching the sunset, either from Castell Dinas Bran or from the bedroom window if you would rather stay put. The wood burner and kitchen make the cabin easy to settle into, and the Shacks wild sauna is reached directly on foot, around five minutes away, for crackling timber and rising steam after a day's walking with the dog.

Vega is perched just above Llangollen, and a footpath leads down into town. Stroll the canal beside the horse drawn boats, brave the walk across Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, the stream in the sky, then settle in at the Cornmill or at Gales, the oldest wine bar in Wales. Bearded Man Adventures runs canoeing, canyoning and archery for a day off from walking the dog.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Vega dog friendly?

Yes, Vega is fully dog friendly. The cabin is fenced all the way round, giving your dog the run of the enclosure once you're through the gate — which makes it one of the more relaxed stays in North Wales if you're travelling with a dog.

  • Are dogs allowed at Vega year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so they're welcome as part of a stay at Vega. If you want to confirm availability for specific dates, it's worth checking directly with the hosts.

  • What should I know before visiting Vega with my dog?

Sheep graze near the property, so you'll need to keep your dog on the lead until you're through the gate and it's closed behind you. The access track is steep and stone-laid — you can drive to the top and walk the last 50 metres, or park at the bottom if the ground is soft after rain.
