1 / 19White Acres
Saxilby, Lincolnshire
A peaceful single level property for four beside the canal at Saxilby near Lincoln, with a white fence and gate all round, an exterior dog wash and two dogs welcome.
A lovely white fence and gate run all the way round White Acres, which the owners describe as making it secure and enclosed, and the canal walks start right outside. Set at the end of a lane next to the water at Saxilby, peaceful and private, this dog friendly hideaway is home for four guests and their two dogs, and every room sits on one level.
The open plan living space has beamed ceilings, a lounge corner with a log burner and TV, and a dining space for cosy dinners in. Throws and soft furnishings make it a comfortable room for a night by the fire, logs for the opening evening come with the stay, and two dogs back from the canal will be snoring in front of it before the kettle has boiled. Just off the lounge, the well equipped kitchen has plenty of storage and utensils for keen cooks and bakers.
Each of the two bedrooms, one double and one twin, is full of light with storage to spare, and a shower room completes the inside. Out in the enclosed garden there is bench seating, and the owners have made it a safe, relaxing space for furry friends who come away with you. An exterior dog wash deals with muddy paws, and after a morning on the canal bank it earns its keep.
The canal is open to the public for fishing, canoeing and paddle boarding, and the dogs have wonderful walks along it from the door. The historic city of Lincoln is less than 7 miles away, best known for its medieval cathedral and a library designed by Wren, with Lincoln Castle housing a Victorian prison and a copy of the Magna Carta.

Book with holidaycottages.co.ukFrequently Asked Questions
Is White Acres dog friendly?
Yes, White Acres welcomes up to two dogs. The whole property is enclosed with white fencing and a gate, so dogs can head outside freely at any hour without needing to be on a lead, and there's an outdoor dog wash by the door for cleaning up after a towpath walk.
Are dogs allowed at White Acres year round?
The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions, and the setup — secure fencing, an outdoor dog wash, and direct access to the Fossdyke towpath — very much suggests it's designed for dogs to be there whenever you are. It's always worth confirming directly with the owners if you're planning a visit at a particular time of year.
What should I know before visiting White Acres with my dog?
The cottage takes a maximum of two dogs, and everything is on one level, which makes it easy going for older or less mobile dogs. The enclosed garden means dogs can roam freely outside, and the Fossdyke towpath right on the doorstep offers a flat, easy walk in either direction — whatever length suits you. The outdoor dog wash is well placed for dealing with muddy paws before anyone comes back inside.
