Three bedrooms, and the maximum is four guests. That is a great deal of house for a small party, and the owners state it plainly so nobody turns up hoping to fit a fifth in. White Cottage stands at Camber, dog friendly, with an enclosed garden behind it, a wood burner, and one dog permitted. The sand is a few hundred metres off.

Four people across three bedrooms means a king and two doubles with one going spare, which in practice becomes the room where the bags live and the wet coats hang. A cloakroom sits on the ground floor beside the single bathroom. The garden is enclosed and holds furniture and a charcoal grill, and for a dog coming back off sand twice a day an enclosure it cannot leave is worth rather more than a fourth bedroom.

Camber exists because of the beach and makes no secret of it. Everything is a few hundred metres away and the car can stay where it was put on Saturday. The burner arrives with its first logs, and the evening pattern settles fast: sand out of the coat, dog asleep in front of the fire, nobody suggesting they go anywhere.

Beyond the village the ground turns into Romney Marsh, which is less landscape than reclaimed sea, flat grazing lying below the tide and cut about by straight drains, with churches standing alone in fields where the villages used to be. Dungeness is out at the far end, a shingle desert with fishing boats and two lighthouses on it. It is strange, level and enormous, and a dog will not meet a stile all day.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is White Cottage - Camber dog friendly?

Yes, White Cottage welcomes dogs — one dog is permitted per stay. The cottage has an enclosed garden, which is a real bonus for a dog-friendly base, and Camber's famous beach is just a few hundred metres away.

  • Are dogs allowed at White Cottage - Camber year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's worth contacting the owners directly to confirm availability for your dates. Given the cottage's setup — enclosed garden, wood burner, easy beach access — it seems well suited to off-season visits with a dog.

  • What should I know before visiting White Cottage - Camber with my dog?

The key detail is that only one dog is permitted, so if you're travelling with more than one, check with the owners before booking. The enclosed garden means your dog has a safe space to decompress after beach trips, and the cottage sleeps a maximum of four guests across three bedrooms — there's no squeezing in a fifth person or an extra pet. For walks beyond the beach, Romney Marsh and Dungeness are close by and offer long, flat routes with no stiles.
