Broad Haven South

Pembrokeshire

Dog Friendly Rating:9/10A beautiful sandy beach near the Bosherston Lily Ponds within the Stackpole NNR with year-round dog access; easily confused with Broad Haven North but a completely different and more remote beach.

Broad Haven South (not to be confused with Broad Haven on the north Pembrokeshire coast) is a beautiful sandy beach near Bosherston, within the Stackpole National Nature Reserve. The beach is surrounded by limestone cliffs and dunes, and is adjacent to the famous Bosherston Lily Ponds, a National Nature Reserve famous for white water lilies in early summer. The beach is a short walk from the Bosherston car park. The setting is exceptional: clear green-blue water, white sand, and the wild Pembrokeshire coastal scenery.

Broad Haven South is not included in the Pembrokeshire PSPO restriction list for seasonal bans. Year-round dog access. Dogs on leads within the NNR. One of the most beautiful beaches in South Wales.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Broad Haven South dog friendly?

Broad Haven South is a brilliant choice for dog owners, earning a 9/10 dog-friendly rating. Dogs are welcome year-round and it's not subject to any seasonal restrictions under the Pembrokeshire PSPO rules, making it one of the more reliably dog-friendly beaches in the area.

  • Are dogs allowed at Broad Haven South year round?

Yes, dogs are permitted at Broad Haven South throughout the year with no seasonal bans in place. It's not included in the Pembrokeshire PSPO restriction list, so you can visit any time without worrying about summer exclusions.

  • What should I know before visiting Broad Haven South with my dog?

As the beach sits within the Stackpole National Nature Reserve, dogs must be kept on leads throughout the NNR, so make sure to bring one. There are no facilities at the beach itself, but the Bosherston village car park has toilets and a nearby café, and it's roughly a 15-minute walk from there down to the sand. It's also worth knowing this beach is often confused with Broad Haven on the north Pembrokeshire coast — they're completely different locations, so double-check your directions before setting off.
